Welcome to Our New Website!

Welcome to Sisters In Crime Atlanta’s new home on the internet. I encourage you to take the time and browse around.

Since I was graciously allowed to write our first blog post on the new website, I want to remind you of what we have accomplished in just one year. It’s a testament to what can be done when a group pulls together for the greater good.

I took over as President of the Sisters In Crime Atlanta Chapter during a “rebuilding year.” One of my goals was to discover why chapter members had stayed on through some difficult times. I wanted to know what each of you were looking for, when you made that dues payment every year.

I soon discovered that you were looking for support. Support for your professional careers with marketing and sales events, support for your writing education through meetings focusing on topics such as craft and forensics, support on the business side of publishing and building your brand. Most importantly, what came up again and again, was community support. Members mentioned the importance of meetings to foster a sense of fellowship and common ground, along with a desire to discuss the genre and discover new authors. Those with works in progress wished to find critique partners and beta readers.

It is my hope that this website will facilitate the goal of supporting your sense of community. Here you will find a detailed list of members, so you can get an idea of just who is “in the club”. Published members will be able to post their book covers with active links, giving them one more place to show their catalogue and garner a sale. A monthly blog will keep you on your toes with craft, marketing, and publishing topics. A Featured Author spot will persuade you to stop and do a deeper dive on one member’s latest title.

You’ll find a calendar of events listing our meetings and special events. A page is dedicated to Off The Shelf reader events and you will find a spot to pay your dues. A members only area will give you access to videos of past meetings and other topics of interest.

So take some time and look around. It’s your house, get familiar with it.
